Top 3 causes of cyberbullying

Did you ever think about what makes people cyberbullying? I use the top 3 causes because I know that these causes always happen in our daily lives..

  1. Revenge for other peers – Revenge will motivate some people to do cyberbullying. It is because they already being victims of bullying in daily lives, so they might think harassing other people is something that normal as people deserve to be bullied.
  2. People who are bored and want to look for entertainment – Sometimes they tend to cyberbullying to add some excitement. Instead of finding a positive activitiy to spend their time, cyberbullies entertain themselves by bullying people online. Huh!
  3. Envy and jealousy – People that have this kind of feeling or personality, they want something another person has. For example, the person might be the popular teenagers in the university because she is beautiful and intelligent. So, the bullies tend to bully the person at the cyber world. The bullies can left nasty words at their social media such as ”ugly” or ”stupid” and try to provoke her everyday.

4 Tips to overcome Cyberbullying

You already know the causes, so now I want to share some tips to overcome cyberbullying.. 🙂 I hope the tips can help you if you face this situation!

  • Don’t respond or retaliate – Means that when you getting cyberbully, you do not reply to any comments that has been send or said to you or retaliate by doing the same thing back! When you doing the same thing back, it will make the situation worse and you might get into trouble.
  • Inform the higher authorities – If you are getting threats or physical harm from the cyberbullies, you should report it to police and Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission(MCMC) so that they take action against the cyberbullies. Below is the police hotline number and the MCMC website for you to lodge the report:

  • Use available technology tools – As we knows, most social media allow you to block the person if you did not want them to disturb you anymore. So, you can block the person and report it to the social media. I share the steps how to block someone at the Facebook:

Step 1: Log in to your Facebook account

Step 2: Go to their profile and select ”MORE”

Step 3: Press ”BLOCK” and Done 🙂

  • Save the evidence – When you are on social media, you can take a screenshot of anything that you think it could be cyberbullying and save it in your phones or computer. Later, you can shown this to someone who can help such as your parents.

Let me end my write up with a quote from Raini Rodriguez..

Bullying is never fun, it’s a cruel and terrible thing to do to someone. If you are being bullied, it is not your fault. No one deserves to be bullied, ever.

  1. Very informative blog! And yes, I do agree that bullying is cruel, no matter the type of bullying the person gets. People mostly get social, verbal, physical or cyber bullying nowadays, nevertheless they all do intersect one another as they would give the same long term psychological and societal effects to the victims.

  2. Informative blog
Yes, any kind of bullying will affect a person’s mind which they think bullying is the best way to express their feeling on other people. Cyberbulliying has the ability to kill someone who is innoncent.
In the same time, we can see those who been bullied by those cruel people will get”sick” and couldn’t jump out of the “dark”, which this will affect their psycho heavily, they might not able to think positive and started to find out a way which might harmful to them in order to save themselves from being bullied, commit suicide is the example.

  4. i like how the way you wrote this in your blog. honestly the one thing that attracted me in reading this, is the way you have created eg. the style of your blog.

Is sad that cyber bullying is still an on going thing and now i see that people just lost of the steps of how to prevent cyber bullying when it happens to that someone. A very good example that you gave on Sulli that had shocked many fans of hers. To me is sad that people that had commented on her did not feel any remorseful after her death. Comments kept coming in.

Now that with this article, i hope that people could just be mindful of the words to use, the art of a proper communication and be respectful to one another.
